We love travel day!
The Art Bus team LOVES travel day! This is just part of our collective nomadic nature but everyone gets excited when it is time to put the work away and hit the road! Today we are pulling up stakes from Martinsville, VA where we stayed at the very quiet, restful and one of our favorite RV Parks so far: Indian Heritage RV Park. All three of us very much enjoyed our stay here! There is a truly magnificent garden that is tended to by the park on a hillside median... the day lillies are just beginning to bloom. There is a magnificent magenta rose bush that is in full-bloom. A truly beautiful place to stay! We had a spot backed up right to the Smith River and enjoyed a lot of the beauty of Nature while we were here. Special thanks to my dear friend and client, Joanie Jones, who invited me into her life and neighborhood and got me connected with the Foothills Quilt Guild. The Foothills Quilters really did so much more than take a workshop from me, they fed my spirit and treated me with great kindness.
I took the Snoop-dog for a walk by the Smith River one morning and was enveloped and I mean enveloped in butterflies. At least two-dozen huge gold ones, a half dozen periwinkle blue ones and a lone black one. The geese on the river preened from their perch in the shallows and tiny little birds zoomed so close to the water I thought they would fall in. One brave male Mallard duck swam cooly by the half-dozen geese that were loudly honking their protest to Snoopie being on their beach. I have never been near that many butterflies in nature, just the butterfly garden at Houston's Museum of Natural Science. It was astounding! That was a definite spiritual moment. This entire stay was beautiful, relaxing and transformative.
I had some hard lessons the week prior to this. Lessons about respecting my self and my mission enough to have boundaries and carefully guard them. This is not just how I make my "living," but this life I am living is in complete service to my inner mission. It is important to me to be in service to Truth, Beauty, Humor and Love by bringing encouragement, inspiration, skills and mentoring to people who need it throughout America and Canada (Come see me in Buffalo, NY in July my Eastern Canadian friends!). Our humanity flourishes and grows through our creative spark. I am here to nourish YOUR creative spark.
So now we have some beautiful contracts that will serve all parties with their clarity and direction. I also reimagined the Quilting Across America Tour and how it can be more efficiently managed to serve the highest good of all who come into contact with it. If you cruise around my website you will see some pretty drastic changes. Change is good and I am confident that my ability to be in service to my purpose will be greatly expanded by the new way of doing things.
I am offering private machine quilting and even piecing mentoring in your studio or the Art Bus for $175 for an individual or $300 for two. Mileage costs from the last stop of the Art Bus before you ($.535 per mile) and 2 nights lodging at a quality RV park near you are the only expenses in addition to the class fee. The average mileage has been around 150, however this is a beautiful opportunity for you to work together with your local quilters to schedule your lessons in proximity to each other and help to share the expenses. We will be building a strong community of people who are committed to their own creative excellence and are nourished to press-on in a world that can feel so doomed at times. Our creativity is what will make the world flourish. We must nurture it. For the sake of our sanity; for the sake of humanity!
I have created the opportunity to support an Art Bus Scholarship Fund, for those who have the heart to help out of your abundance. The Scholarship will be used to help defray excess mileage charges and give every quilter who is committed to their own excellence the chance to do so affordably. Just think about how much money you spend to attend a show that is filled with numerous other students. My private class is all about YOU, nourishing your spark, expanding YOUR skills, encouraging YOUR growth as a quilter and as a human being! Unheard of in this industry and only thanks to my vagabond lifestyle I can bring the Mentor to you at an incredibly LOW price, to help you in YOUR studio, on YOUR machine. Or the Art Bus. For my Canadian friends I will pop into very Northern areas in America to try to make a trip over for your private lesson in the Art Bus more accessible. I don't want to hassle with crossing the border, I hope you will understand.
Speaking of Canada, for my Eastern Canadian friends, I will be in Buffallo, NY from at least July 10 until July 16.
We are headed to Gloucester, VA where I will give a Free-Hand for Fraidey Cats! 5 hour workshop and a Quilting Across America lecture tomorrow evening (there is room available in this 5-hour hands-on group workshop (Contact Rebecca Mattox for information on how you can join us). I will be based out of Cobbs Creek, VA between May 22 and May 31, for those who are interested in these incredible private lessons while I am in that proximity.
Raleigh, Durham, Winston-Salem, Ashboro, NC and Martinsville, VA friends, I will be back in your area with days available (super-low mileage charge because I will be already in the area) from May 31-June 7. I really look forward to spending the day nourishing YOUR creative spark!
I am still working on writing all of the descriptions for my workshop choices so be sure to check back in the next day or two for those. Please share my tour information with quilters far and wide and let's nourish our creativity and make the world more beautiful, together!
Click on the Quilt Shop button below to see when the Art Bus will be near you and to register for your private lesson. After your order is received we will discuss your needs and desires for your private class and confirm your workshop date and costs. I look forward to transforming the world with you!

Your generous $5 and $10 donations help to support my Random Acts of Artwork Movement and funds the Quilting Across America Scholarship that serves to defray the expenses of my private mentoring for quilters all over America! Together we are proving that Making Things Matters! Thank you for being a small part of a BIG change in this world by supporting my mission in service to Truth, Beauty, Humor and Love, Nichole Wilde
