Just like disco Music...
It is physically impossible to hang out in the vibration of a gorgeous white-sands beach on the Emerald Coast of Florida and feel sad for very long. You either shift or you flee. This is indeed the perfect spot for me to ride out the third anniversary of the Oso Landslide. Somehow I knew that this was where I needed to be, and the people that I have here are the perfect match, with the words that I need to hear right now. I am so blessed, but I also am proud of myself for following my intuition and not a plan.
The Quilting Across America Tour has been a grand adventure so far, and began with a kind of wobbly vision for what it was going to achieve. As the year has progressed my ideas have congealed and I now know exactly the direction that I want to take this tour and thus my life. Thank you for being patient with me and supportive of me and my vision!
We are in Port St. Joe, Florida, which is a sleepy little town just south of Mexico Beach. These two little places are like a hidden gem away from the touristy beaches of Destin. Michael and I drove up the coast of Florida from Palm Harbor on US 98. To date it was the most scenic and fabulous drive we have taken together. We are both enchanted by the area. This is definately a place on our list for "when we settle down."
I have finally settled into redeveloping the website and getting caught up on catching you up. For your viewing pleasure is a gallery of photos of quilts I have finished so far this year. I am accepting clients and right now today have a two-week turn around. If you have a special quilt top that needs that artistic finishing touch to preserve your legacy, give me a call today! March is the most difficult month of the year for me. As the anniversary of the Oso Landslide approaches, I find myself happy and sad to be away from the scene of the disaster. Happy because they have been having miserable weather back home and sad because I will not be there to launch lanterns into the night sky in remembrance with the other families as has been our tradition for the past two years. 43 lives were lost on that sunny Saturday morning of March 22, 2014. Every single one deeply loved and precious to our small community.
Pelican Piecemakers Quilt Guild of New Smyrna Beach, Florida hosted a set of classes on February 28, 2017 and they were a smashing success! So many lovely and talented quilters joined me in learning some special freehand techniques that can be done on their sewing machines! We thoroughly enjoyed the verve and enthusiasm that the quilters there greeted my techniques with!
