There are so few longarm classes anywhere and very few one-on-one experiences with longarm teachers. Nichole will give you confidence to use that beautiful longarm machine you purchased. A longarm class at Quilt Festival in Houston (with 30 people) is $135+. Take advantage of Nichole being near you while you can!!! ~ Chris Mattern Ginkens
I can't sleep I am so excited about my new plan for the Quilting Across America Tour! One of my mentors has been saying frequently that the old ways of doing things is no longer working. Consciousness is shifting in new directions and people are in need of a new level of service.
For years I have enjoyed the intimacy of private workshops as my very favorite way to teach. I have fun with the large group classes, too, but I really feel there is a deeper connection to my student when I am acting as mentor and not as teacher. The truth is that the only person who can actually teach you, is YOU. It takes the actual experience of doing the thing to honestly learn it. Teacher's can guide you and give you corrections but the person who actually makes the knowledge click for you is always YOU.
I enjoyed my time at the Gate City Quilter's Guild and the High Point, NC Quilt Guild in early May and I taught myself some valuable lessons there. I learned that sometimes people that are the most helpful are not actually helpful for my highest good but perhaps are a bit controlling. I learned that no one is going to protect my mission or make sure that it is kept on the road but me. I rediscovered that I hate teaching drawing classes, so I no longer offer them. A drawing class is fine for YouTube, but I want your hands on cloth or machine when you are in one of my workshops!
After learning those lessons I reinvented myself and my tour. I pulled up my big-girl panties and thought long and hard about how I can be more effective in my mission to be of service to your creative spark. I love what I have come up with and my calendar is beginning to fill with all kinds of wonderful quilters who see the opportunity for a HANDS-ON workshop IN THEIR STUDIO with just them or them and a friend, is a UNIQUE opportunity that they cannot pass up on. For less than a mega-sized Hands-On class at a show they can have me in their studio teaching them on their machine, that they are used to (or not yet)!
I feel very strongly that we are becoming more and more disconnected from each other thanks to screen-time. Large classes do not offer the same level of true intimacy that a one-on-one class offers and so can never actually compete. It's like comparing apples to oranges!
If you are one of the MANY quilters that I have come in touch with that have a longarm and are intimidated by it, I can help. I have a 15 year long career of teaching on every brand of machine out there.
If you are a quilter that just has a sewing machine but a real desire to quilt your own quilts, I can help you! I teach in your studio or in my Art Bus on both the regular sewing machine and the longarm.
I am also offering classes on pieceing, pieced backs and binding.
I am thrilled to offer some unique choices for a great program for guilds and shops that want to host the Art Bus. People NEED to get out and connect with each other! Let's shake things up together and transform the quilting world by the depth of our connections to each other!
I am teaching today and speaking tonight but tomorrow my location and available dates for the rest of 2017, 2018 and 2019 will be available on the website. It is first-come, first served, so be sure to secure your date to assure you get the one on want.
Please share this post and my website with every quilter you know! Let's show the world how much Making Things Matters to us!
